Nabaztag – The Internet Wifi Gadget, Toy and Friend

The Nabaztag will be your little wifi friend and will entertain you for hours as well as giving you information you want to hear. Once connected to the internet you can get your e-mails, RSS feeds, weather reports and SMS. The rabbit can connect to any unprotected wifi connection and you can also assign it to connect via WEP encytpion but the latest model cannot connect by WPA. A new updated version will be released soon and this will have WPA connection included.

Once you are connected you need to register on the Nabaztag website. You will have to assign a unique name and here you have other features which you can activate. You can also upgrade your account which costs around £4 a month which will give you access to even more services. You have some free credits to start off with so you can send music files and speech but you will need to upgrade to use these services fully.

What’s great is that you can communicate with other nabaztags and other Nabaztag owners. The rabbit has a built in microphone for you to communicate with it. Once you are connected to the internet you can subscribe to many different services. Some of the free ones include the clock where it tells you the time every hour. You can also get weather reports twice daily. On an upgraded account you can get your emails as well as be notified when your friends come online on Google talk.

One the website you can list RSS feeds of your favourite blogs, websites or news sites. The rabbit can then tell you the latest information from these feeds. The rabbit also can communicate physically by moving it’s ears and lighting up. If you get bred of them ears you can buy some different ones too.

This adorable piece of kit is packed full of features and in theory it is great. The gadget works great in France where it was designed and services in other countries are not quite ready. You can only get traffic reports and SMS if you are in France. The website is also in French in some parts so I would probably wait for the services to get better and the rabbit to be updated.
